Los Angeles, CA – March 29, 2017 — Worldwide Business with kathy ireland® announces an exclusive interview with Connie Leipard, National President of NAWIC, a network for women in the field of construction.

Leipard will discuss the important role NAWIC plays for women in an industry that is still primarily dominated by men.

The construction industry is typically thought of as a male-dominated career field. This makes sense because statistics show only 8.9% of workers in the field are women. The National Association of Women in Construction or NAWIC for short wants to see this stat change.

Barbara Allen, who is a construction executive says the following about the organization: “You are used to being the only women around the table or in a meeting in the construction industry. Sometimes, you forget that you aren’t alone in the field. NAWIC allows you as a woman to connect with other women in the construction industry, showing you that you aren’t alone.”

During the interview, Kathy asked Ms. Leipard why NAWIC is so vital for women who work in the construction field to join. Leipard said “The conference inspires, encourages and educates women who are in the field. Top industry speakers share their experience and also educate women on industry trends relevant to their jobs. The conference also offers an abundance of networking opportunities by allowing women to meet other women within their own fields.“

Kathy Ireland shared the fact that diminishing skilled workers are creating a gap in the construction industry. Since the construction industry is vital to the infrastructure of the country, this uncertainty in the field is problematic. Thankfully, NAWIC is doing their part to encourage women to enter the field of construction. This organization encourages women to step out in a field where they may have felt less than welcome in year’s past. The organization’s motto “NAWIC Builds Leaders: Your Education, Your Career, Your Future” says it all.

Today, more than ever, women are needed in the construction industry. Leipard is hopeful that his interview  leads more women to become part of a vitally important industry, crucial to the furtherance of America.
