The Distant Glow is an autobiography that will inspire every reader to endure hardships and make their impossible dreams possible. Terry was encouraged by his three sons to write the book. The book was facilitated by the diaries the family kept and with his strong memory that stores dates and events.

This book tells a story about extreme poverty and how the shackles of poverty were shattered by faith in God, dreaming the impossible dream, streaks of luck that the author attributes to the work of the Holy Spirit, government benefits, help from many people and opportunities that abound in a democratic society and free enterprise system.

“It inspires and provides lessons on how to overcome hardship and achieve academic, professional, social and personal success and the value of faith in God,” said Terry.

Hardships that abound in this story make some readers wonder how anyone could overcome them, but through persistence and optimism, many of these hardships were indeed overcome. Humor that also abounds in this story contributes to a reader’s possible reaction: laugh and cry.

About the Author

Terry I. Sarigumba descended from poor parents who descended from poor and illiterate ancestors. With scholarships and assistantship grants, he finished high school, college, and graduate schools. Terry worked in private industrial forestry in the US in which he used scientific innovations to help the companies he worked for to cost-effectively and environmentally meet their corporate goals. Terry and his wife, Nattie, have resided in Brunswick, Georgia since 1975 and they look forward to celebrating their golden wedding anniversary in 2019. Terry and Nattie are blessed with three sons who are all hard-working, talented and academically and professionally successful.
